FUN FACTS

WHERE DO WAX SEALS COME FROM?

Wax sticks and seals actually pre-date pen and paper! Who knew! Originally, early civilizations found in the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia times used rings or cylinder shapes to press into clay tablets to establish a sender and mark their authority. Wax didn’t actually come around in the Middle Ages and was passed down from archbishops and aristocrats. It was used more like a fashion-forward staple until wax seals trickled down to more common folk. In addition, they provided a minimalist and secure anti-tampering technology to ensure no one would open the letter, or else there would be clear evidence.

Lock in your love letters, leave a little signature, or make something magical out of your “Just Saying Hi” cards!

WHERE ARE THEY TODAY?

Once postages started charging for the number of papers rather than the weight, locals became sneaky and sent letters without envelopes to avoid the extra fee. Today, wax seals are still found in those who adore them. Those who appreciate the romantic and magical aspects of opening a letter sealed with a personal kiss.

MAKE YOUR MARK

There is nothing more lovely than opening a card where you can feel the thought and love put into it. Wax seal beads are pressed thoughtfully and gently into your invitation before leaving their signature mark. It is the extra step that reminds the receiver how much you care.
